Dr. Kurt Jones
I am Kurt D. Jones, MD, a Board Certified OB/GYN originally from Breaux Bridge, LA.
After graduating first in my high school class, I attended Dillard University in New Orleans obtaining a B.A. degree in Biology. My four years in college was followed by one year of teaching on the college level.
My medical education was completed at Meharry Medical College in Nashville from 1978 -1982. Prior to going on active duty with the US Navy, I completed a rotating internship at Hubbard Hospital in Nashville.
Because I had been granted a military scholarship to finance my medical education, I was required to serve as a General Medical Officer on the USS El Paso for 16 months. Upon completion of my time in the Fleet, I began my residency in OB/GYN at the Naval Medical Center at Portsmouth Virginia.
Following completion of my residency, the remainder of my naval career continued at the Naval Hospital in Pensacola, FL. In December of 1992 I resigned my commission as a Naval LCDR.
A private practice opportunity in Pensacola enabled me to practice solo for 18 years. My practice was closed in December of 2011.
At that time, I became an OB/GYN Hospitalist. This practice was combined with development of a prenatal clinic in central Florida. I have now agreed to build an OB/GYN practice as part of Premier Medical Associates beginning in Ocala, Fl.
My experiences have included but not necessarily limited to: Medical Director of Women’s Services at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fl; Lead Hospitalist at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, Fl; First African American President of the Escambia County Medical Society in Pensacola, FL; Vice Chairman of the Florida Ethics Commission; Assistant Clinical Professor, Florida State OB/GYN Residency
(Awarded Best Instructor 2007 and 2009).
I have been married to my lovely wife now for 37 years and we have been blessed with 3 children, Dominic, Kaylen and Kourtney.
